Emergency numbers

Emergency phone numbers are not unique to Europe or any other geographical location, for that matter.

Most countries have their own telephone system which takes calls for urgent needs and are dedicated for such needs only. Perhaps the most popular number would be the 911 service in the United States.

In Europe, the emergency numbers vary from country to country.

The most common emergency number is 112 – both for land phones and mobile phones. Some countries have different numbers for police, medical, and fire. In Italy, the 118 phone number is dedicated to medical emergencies.
